Crayke Kitchen is based in the food lover’s paradise of Crayke, just twelve miles north of York. The cookery school takes place in Gilli’s charming cottage boasting an enviable kitchen with magnificent views of the countryside.
Gilli Cliff is a culinary expert and food journalist with 25 years practical experience. She has a brilliant understanding of local food producers and delights in sharing her “culinary secrets.” Crayke Kitchen is a wonderful place to hone your cookery skills –and the good news is that it doesn’t cost a fortune, a one day class costs just £30 and a delicious three course lunch with wine is included.
Gilli offers a range of thoughtfully planned and targeted courses: there’s one for youngsters heading off to university, an autumnal themed dinner party, she’s even planning a course aimed at shaping up fathers to be.
The morning begins with coffee and biscuits (homemade of course) while Gilli demonstrates the recipes of the day. Gilli is an extremely capable teacher with a huge passion for food, throwing in plenty of tips such as the best way to store fresh herbs or slice an onion. The demonstrations end with a glass of well deserved wine and the chance to stroll around and visit the drawing room where Gilli has arranged for someone to entertain the crowd while she puts the finishing touches to lunch.
